Terms of Service
Last updated: 27 June 2026
By creating an Opkip account or using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use Opkip.
1. What Opkip Is
Opkip helps clients arrange and manage recurring services (e.g. water, gas, cleaning, laundry) with independent service providers. Opkip facilitates discovery, scheduling, and delivery confirmation — and, in a later phase, payment escrow.
Opkip is an intermediary. The service agreement is between you and the provider. We do not employ providers and do not ourselves perform the services.
During this phase, payment for services happens directly between you and your provider, outside the platform — money movement features (wallet, escrow) are not active yet. Where this policy describes wallet or escrow behaviour, it describes how that will work once those features are switched on; we will update this page when that happens. Funds held in an Opkip wallet, once active, are not deposits and do not earn interest.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Opkip.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- One account per person, enforced per verified phone number.
- Business accounts must be operated by an authorised representative.
3. Accounts and Security
- Keep your phone number, account PIN, and one-time codes confidential.
- Do not share your delivery confirmation code until a service is actually delivered. Entering or sharing a code confirms delivery and (once escrow is active) releases payment.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
4. Provider Verification
Providers must submit a government or business identity document and are reviewed by Opkip before they can be matched or assigned. Verification is a basic anti-impersonation and safety control; it is not a guarantee of a provider's conduct, quality, or safety. Exercise normal caution as you would with any service visiting your home.
5. Provider Obligations
By registering as a provider on Opkip, you agree to:
- Deliver agreed services on the agreed schedule.
- Provide accurate profile information, including service categories, coverage areas, and pricing.
- Complete identity verification as required.
- Submit the delivery code only after the service has been rendered.
- Respond to consumer invitations within 48 hours.
- Notify the consumer in advance if you cannot fulfil a scheduled delivery.
Providers who repeatedly fail to deliver, submit false delivery codes, or violate these terms may be suspended or permanently removed from the platform.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel a plan at any time from the plan detail page. There is no cancellation fee. Opkip does not impose lock-in periods, cooling-off timers, or confirmation hurdles — cancellation must be achievable in no more than 2 taps.
7. Delivery Code Security
The 6-digit delivery code is how a delivery is confirmed (and, once escrow is active, the trigger for payment release). To protect all parties:
- Opkip will never ask for your delivery code, not by SMS, WhatsApp, email, phone call, or any other channel. Any communication claiming to be from Opkip and requesting your delivery code is fraudulent.
- Only share your delivery code with your provider after the service has been fully delivered.
- If you believe your delivery code was obtained without delivery occurring, raise a dispute immediately from the plan detail page.
- Codes are single-use, randomly generated, and expire after the delivery window closes. They cannot be reused.
8. Disputes
Where a service is not delivered as agreed, do not confirm delivery — raise a dispute through the app within the stated window instead. Opkip will review the dispute and, where warranted and once escrow is active, refund the held amount to your wallet.
Fraudulent dispute claims, including disputes raised by consumers who received the service, may result in account suspension.
9. Prohibited Conduct (Acceptable Use)
You may not use Opkip, or allow anyone to use your account, to:
- Plan, facilitate, threaten, or carry out violence, kidnapping, abduction, stalking, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or any harm to any person.
- Support or finance terrorism or any proscribed organisation, or evade sanctions.
- Locate, surveil, lure, or “case” any person or property, including misusing delivery addresses or schedules, to track or target anyone.
- Pass coded or covert illegal instructions through messages, notes, names, ratings, descriptions, or invites.
- Engage in fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing, or other illegal financial activity.
- Arrange the supply of weapons, controlled drugs, or any goods or services illegal under Nigerian law.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse any person, or post hateful or discriminatory content.
- Submit false delivery codes or fabricate service delivery.
- Create fake accounts, impersonate others, manipulate ratings, or create accounts to evade a ban or suspension.
- Use invites or messaging to spam, phish, or move users off-platform to defraud or harm them.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the platform, its security, rate limits, or anti-abuse measures.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension, a ban enforced so it survives re-registration, and referral to law enforcement.
10. Reporting, Blocking, Suspension, and Bans
Either party may report or block the other from the app; a block prevents future matching between you. Opkip may, at its discretion and to protect users, suspend or ban any account, withhold matching, remove content, or refuse service — including where we reasonably believe the Acceptable Use Policy has been or may be violated. Attempting to evade a ban is itself a violation.
11. Content You Provide
You are responsible for the content you submit (names, notes, ratings, addresses, descriptions). We may sanitize, truncate, screen, or remove content, and we retain user content for a defined period for safety, moderation, dispute resolution, and lawful requests, after which it is minimized or deleted.
12. Cooperation with Law Enforcement
Opkip cooperates with valid, lawful law-enforcement and regulatory requests. We may preserve, access, and disclose account, content, location, device, and transaction data where we believe in good faith it is required by law, or reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the rights or safety of Opkip, our users, or the public, including to prevent imminent harm. We handle such requests under an internal runbook and our Privacy Policy, consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act / NDPR.
13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law. Opkip is not liable for the acts or omissions of providers or clients, or for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, except where such exclusion is not permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Intellectual Property
All Opkip software, design, branding, and content is our property. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without written permission.
15. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app or by other reasonable means; continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
